SOUTH AFRICAN LIBRARY WEEK


South African Library week is celebrated annually in March. It is a way to promote libraries and the services it offer. The present day library is more than just books. It plays a much wider and vital role in society. Library week serves to highlight the important role that libraries play in their community.

Libraries, across the City of Cape Town, host various programmes and workshops, linked to an identified theme, to celebrate this important event on the library’s calendar.

Various promotional materials are on offer at all the libraries.

During this week, the libraries also have the annual ‘fine free week’. Patrons are encouraged to return their overdue library material without paying any fines.
